Head of the Research Group: Prof. Dr. phil. Carmen Leicht-Scholten


As from 2010 Prof. Dr. Carmen Leicht-Scholten is assigned a visiting professorship in “Gender and Diversity Management in Engineering” at the institute of software engineering and theoretical computer science at Technical University Berlin. In her research projects as well as in teaching and consulting she is engaged in including heterogeneity and diversity in organisations and in the process of research and development.

Prof. Leicht-Scholten is being furloughed from the rector of RWTH Aachen for the duration of her visiting professorship. In Aachen she is head of the IGaD (Integration Team Human Resources, Gender and Diversity Management) since 2008 and responsible for the conception of the gender and diversity strategy of RWTH Aachen. There she implemented the Future Concept Research and the Future Concept Teaching university-wide.

As the assistant coordinator of the measure “Mobilising People", which was granted in the framework of the Future Concept by the DFG , she supported the university in its organisational development regarding gender and diversity processes. From 2004 till 208 she was scientific assistant at the institute of sociology RWTH Aachen. She developed the mentoring concept for RWTH and was then the leader of the mentoring programs.

She did her doctor’s degree under Prof. Christine Landfried at University of Hamburg in constitutional adjudication and equality. In 1993 she graduated in political science on the topic women’s advancement and quota at Heidelberg University.

Prof. Dr. Carmen Leicht-Scholten is member of numerous national and international advisory broads. Currently she is appointed in the strategy council “Diversity” of the Austrian Ministry for Science and Research. Prof. Leicht-Scholten is member of the EU “Women in Science and Technology Group (WIST)”. Furthermore she is external consultant in the advisory committee of the “Women’s Research Network NRW” and in the selection committee of the HBS foundation.
